Furniture Tube Swaging

Multiform Tubes Engineering Ltd devotes our time and resources to supplying top quality tubing services. This includes furniture tube swaging. Because of the exceptional work we do, we have become a leader in our field. The technicians here have experience with many different materials too. Overall, this makes for a very comprehensive range of solutions.

The tube swaging process

This is a rotary swaging process. If you are unfamiliar with it, it’s a hammer forming procedure for reducing the cross-section of wires, tubes, and solids. It efficiently generates circular concentric reductions. Skilful engineers can also use it to produce regular forms like squares, octagonal, and hexagonal. This is in one end of your tube or both, or straight through the utensil. It can make your interior a different shape, with the outside staying circular. Plus, it can increase the inner diameter.

The process consists of inserting a hydraulic rotary die into the tube. It will open and close rapidly, hammering the inner surface. By rotating the die and controlling the opening and closing, we can adapt it. This is what provides the reduction or change in shape.

Swaging’s benefits

Our swaging work is very beneficial. For example, you will have short cycle times that will supply you with your end product swiftly and efficiently. Plus, no matter how we adapt the interior, you will have smooth, circular, high quality exterior finishes.

Furthermore, there is no material loss and tight tolerances. So that we are clear, swaging employs an impact process rather than cutting. That means there is no waste material and integral strength stays the same.

Why use metal tubing for furnishings?

Furniture Tube SwagingFurniture tube swaging is an ideal service because you can use metal tubes to create various items. For example, you can rely on it to make everything from desk chairs to tables and bed frames. Tubing can even show up in cupboards and wardrobes as railings, letting you hang items up.

There are also many other reasons why people use metal tube to create pieces of furniture. For one thing, it is fantastic in terms of the low costs. This is true even when you opt to employ the more expensive raw materials.

Furthermore, because of the nature of the tubing, things tend to be lightweight. With furnishings, this can be a major factor.

One of the biggest benefits to using tubes for furniture is the ways you can adapt them. For instance, it is possible to bend a tube to produce angled and curved pieces. So, you will be able to get more creative with your designs. On top of that it means the products can meet a wide variety of specifications.

Many different tubes are useful for furniture

Like we said before, we work with a myriad of tubing materials. We ensure our team has this experience because many types of tube are suitable for furnishings.

For starters, you can use various types of steel, like mild and stainless. These are popular as they possess high strength and are low in cost. Additionally, there are several finishing options available. You can use galvanisation and plating for example. This will amplify the aesthetic finish and corrosion resistance.

As well as steels, it is possible to use copper, aluminium, titanium, and brass. Every one of these materials comes with their own characteristics. Thus, it is vital for you to choose the ones that most suit the products you are creating.
