The goal at Multiform Tubes Engineering Ltd is to provide high quality tubing with distinct features. This is possible through the use of several specialist techniques, including bending and different types of end forming. We can provide all kinds of solutions, including titanium shop fitting tube swaging. Our efforts have proven invaluable here and in many other industries. Whatever it is you need doing, we can help.
What is tube swaging?
Many people ask us what the process actually is. At a basic level, it is a rotary hammer forming technique you can use to reduce and change the cross-section of tubes. Tube swaging has the potential to produce circular concentric reductions or regular forms. These include squares, hexagonal, and octagonal. So, you can use it to make the inner tube a separate shape without changing the external shape. Or, you can reduce the inner diameter without an impact on the outer. The work happens on one end of the tube or both, or can cover the whole length in some cases.
The swaging process consists of inserting a special die inside the tube. It will open and close swiftly, hammering the inside of the tubing. This changes the wall of the tube. If you carefully rotate the die, you can change the shape.
There are multiple advantages to this work. For instance, there are short cycle times so we give you your end product rapidly and efficiently. What’s more, no matter the shape of the tube interior, you retain a decent smooth finish on the exterior. Even better, there are tight tolerances and no material loss.
Titanium’s features
One of the reasons why titanium shop fitting tube swaging works so well is the beneficial properties of the base material. Titanium’s strength-to-weight ratio is among its most famous attributes. It has the strength of steel but roughly half the weight. So, you can use it in situations where weight reduction is vital but you don’t want to sacrifice strength, loading performance, and durability.
Another reason why titanium works for tubing is its corrosion resistance. It generates a protective oxide layer on the exterior when exposed to water or air. This halts further oxidation and preserves the integrity over time. You won’t need to worry about your shop fittings failing prematurely due to corrosive elements.
Titanium is heat resistant too. The material’s endurance and strength endure even at very high temperatures. This is thanks to its strong resistance to heat. Such a property will come in handy if your establishment exists in an area that gets hot. Your shop fittings will have more protection.
Then there’s the malleability and ductility. Even though titanium has a lot of strength, it remains ductile and malleable. Because of this, it’s possible to form the metal into all kinds of shapes without it breaking or cracking. You will be able to craft complex designs and shapes without undermining the stability and performance. This means your shop fittings don’t have to be limited to basic designs; you can get more attention with something bespoke and imaginative.
