Tubes can serve all sorts of purposes, but before they can do so, they have to be moulded into the proper shapes and sizes. Experienced in performing a multitude of tube modification techniques, including the likes of tube reduction, we can alter your tubing in ways that allows it to fulfil its intended roles. Appropriate for tubes that are comprised of numerous materials, our techniques are the ones you can rely on.
Unsurprisingly, stainless steel is utilised extensively in food and beverage production and processing sectors for manufacturing, transportation and bulk storage, presentation, and preparation applications. Depending on what grade of the substance is chosen, they are fitting for the majority of food and beverage product classes.
A large portion of food contact equipment, pipe work, and containers in stainless steels are produced from one of two types of austenitic the material, those of 304 and 316. The 17% chromium ferritic variant, the 430 steel, also sees its fair share of usage for applications that include splashbacks, as well as equipment enclosures and housings. These are instances where corrosion resistance demands are not as insistent.
Aside from these non-hardenable austenitic and ferritic variations, elevated strength duplex designs like grades 1.4462 and 1.4362 are more practical for warmer conditions that exceed 50°C. During these scenarios, stress corrosion cracking can be a hazard in places like brewery sparge tanks.
Should you properly specify the stainless steel grades for your application, there shouldn’t be too much corrosion related bother. Another thing that’s really important here is the surface condition and finish of your steels. Not only do smoothened exteriors promote excellent cleanliness, but they lower the likelihood of corrosion as well.
At Multiform Tubes, our tube reduction work is not unlike that of tapering, where the tube’s size is minimised towards its end section. This makes it the ideal choice if you’re looking to supply external and internal flush joints, or if you need your tubing for something similar.
